As of 2022, Consolidated Communications provides high speed Internet service in the 22 states listed below:
Like all of the old landline telephone companies, Consolidated is transitioning from copper-based DSL service to 100% fiber optic connections. All of their DSL lines will remain under the Consolidated Communications brand while the new fiber lines will be branded Fidium Fiber.
Expansion of their fiber network is currently ongoing. Fidium is coming to five more states soon (California, Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Texas) during their latest broadband expansion in 2022.
“roughly 25 percent of Consolidated's service area now has access to the consumer fiber service”
The company is focused on bringing symmetrical fiber internet to as many customers as possible. However, as of 2022, Consolidated remains primarily a DSL provider, with a very large rural footprint. Roughly three quarters of their service area is still limited to fiber-enhanced DSL speeds.
