Motorola Modular Access Points Performance Review

This is a performance review that covers the Motorola Modular Access Points 802.11ac and 802.11n.

The 802.00ac Wi-Fi Access point is the 5th generation of MMAP (Motorola Modular AccessPoint) and supports a wide range of mobile devices and wireless applications while also providing considerable bandwidth for use in homes and offices. Multi-media applications can take advantage of increased throughput and the 802.11ac radio provides next generation bandwidth.

Motorola Modular Access Points

The 802.11n radio upgrades the most obvious weakness of the 802.11ac offering by increasing the bandwidth via the radio transceiver. Speeds from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz are possible while also providing other wireless and LAN infrastructure services. Add-ons that provide a redundant backhaul, RFID, and dedicated intrusion detection are also available on the 802.11n.

Both devices operated at the specs given, but the 802.11ac was made almost instantly obsolete by the 80211n. The second model is shown as a possible upgrade but at the price there is now reason to purchase it.

The hardware works well and should support any home and even small businesses up to 10 people.
