When Verizon first launched their FiOS network in 2005, the speeds were already pretty fast. At the start of 2013, they got even faster. At that time, Verizon rolled out FiOS Quantum with top speeds at 500 Mbps.

The company built out it's fiber-optic network up until 2010. Since then, there have been no Verizon FiOS expansions until 2016. Now Verizon is once again quietly upgrading their remaining copper lines to fiber optic Internet connections on an individual and neighborhood basis.

So, if you find that only Verizon DSL is available at your address, contact the company and see if they can upgrade your home to Verizon FiOS.
